Life is ever-interesting, isn’t it? I just wanted to catch you up on some things I have going on. I have tried to accept the blast of heat that burns my face every time I step outside for years now. I have “grinned and beared it” from June through September…..year after stifling year. I am a Texan to the core and realize that Texas Summers are brutal! I get it….I get it. 105 this afternoon though….really? I have been marvelled at by many of my friends for not being much of a “sweater”. I can assure you that I broke one today! I took the kids to Legoland (which I highly recommend you go to at least once in your lifetime!) and the walk from the parking lot to the entrance was brutal. I can no longer hold it in. Texas Heat Wave-I’m done with ya! Grrrrrrr.

At 4 o’clock this afternoon my family will put down our beloved Boston Terrier, Heigen. He has been a part of my children’s lives for 10 years and a faithful and loving dog. We all got together last night to hold him and went around the room telling Heigen how much he has meant to us. Good dog, prince, gentlemen, mad “tooter”, ball “hiker”, friend, buddy, one of a kind….our beloved Heigen. We carried him out into the sunshine yesterday afternoon for one last time and watched his sweet face soak up the warmth. He has been deaf, blind, and incontinent now for months but for one brief moment, we saw the young pup he used to be….pain-free and full ot life!! We will miss you so and until we cross that Rainbow Bridge…be free and know you were loved!!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….
